John Barr Senior Advisor to the President of Baseball Operations

John Barr has been a baseball executive for over 40 years. In December of 2019, Barr was honored as the Scout of the Year for the East Coast region, an award voted on by his peers. Under Barr’s guidance, the Giants have drafted players such as All-Stars Brandon Crawford and Logan Webb, among many others on the current Giants roster.

The Audubon, NJ, native entered the front office ranks in 1984 with the New York Mets as Administrative Assistant to Minor Leagues and Scouting where he remained until becoming the East Coast Supervisor for the Minnesota Twins in 1988. As Scouting Director for the Baltimore Orioles, (1989-90), Barr was responsible for selecting first rounders Ben McDonald (’89) and Hall of Famer Mike Mussina (’90). He served as Assistant General Manager for the San Diego Padres (1991-93) before returning to the New York Mets (1994-97) as Scouting Director. Barr then spent ten years (1998- 2007) with the Los Angeles Dodgers as East Coast Supervisor.

Barr was inducted into the Mid Atlantic Scouts Hall of Fame in November of 2008 and then inducted into the Professional Scouting Hall of Fame during the summer of 2009. He received the “Legends in Scouting Award” in January 2019 at the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation Awards Dinner. The Rider University graduate resides in Haddonfield, NJ, with his wife, Marianne.

Jeremy Shelley Senior Vice President, Assistant General Manager

Jeremy Shelley has been a part of the Giants organization for over 30 years. He currently serves as Senior Vice President and Assistant General Manager. He assists President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi and General Manager Pete Putila with the day-to day operations of the baseball department including roster management, player acquisitions, player evaluations, Major League rules administration and interpretation, contract negotiations and salary arbitration.

During his time with the Giants he has been a part of nine postseason berths, including four World Series appearances and three Championships.

The Concord, CA native began his career for the Giants as a baseball operations intern in 1994. He was hired full-time as Administrative Assistant, Baseball Operations in 1996. Shelley was later promoted to Director, Baseball Operations in 2006, Senior Director, Baseball Operations/Pro Scouting in 2009 and Vice President, Pro Scouting and Player Evaluation in 2013.

He earned a BS in finance from Santa Clara University in 1995. Shelley and his wife, Suzanne, live in San Mateo with their two daughters.

Colin Cahill Senior Vice President, Player Performance & Wellness

Colin Cahill joined the Giants Organization in October of 2019 as the VP of Player Performance and Wellness. In his role with the Giants, Cahill works across Baseball Operations to help drive the organization’s efforts to capitalize on advances in medicine, sports science, and technology. Prior to the Giants, Cahill spent 20 years working at the intersection of healthcare and technology in the Bay Area and Boston.

Cahill double-majored while attending Stanford University, earning Bachelor’s degrees in both Economics and Biological Sciences. He received his Master’s in Biological Sciences from Stanford in 2004 and received his MBA from Stanford Business in 2006.

He lives on the Peninsula with his wife and three kids.

Yeshayah Goldfarb Vice President, Baseball Resources & Development

Yeshayah Goldfarb joined the Giants Organization in 2001. During his tenure he has become an integral part of a baseball operations team and decision making process that has led to seven playoff seasons, four World Series appearances, and three World Series championships. Goldfarb’s daily focus is to strategically ensure each hand-picked staff member and player have the resources and support needed to develop and reach their potential.

Goldfarb graduated Cum Laude from the University of California, San Diego. A former pitcher and team captain, he played four seasons with the Tritons and was elected most inspirational Player by his teammates and also presented with the John Roth Memorial Award (Charlie Hustle) by the coaching staff in 2000.

The Berkeley, CA native began his career with the Giants as a scouting intern and video assistant in 2001 and was hired full time after the season as Assistant, Baseball Operations. Entering the 2016 season Goldfarb was promoted from Senior Director, Minor League Operations and Quantitative Analysis to Vice President of Baseball Operations and has now slid over to the new position of Vice President of Baseball Resources and Development. Goldfarb and his wife, Miranda, have a daughter, Eliana, and a son, Ezra, and reside in Oakland, CA.

Zack Minasian Vice President, Professional Scouting

Zack Minasian was promoted to his current position of Vice President, Pro Scouting in 2022. He joined the Giants Organization in 2019 after spending the previous 14 seasons in the Milwaukee Brewers organization, most recently holding the position of Special Advisor – Baseball Operations. For six years he was the Club’s Director – Professional Scouting and also worked for the Brewers organization as Manager of Minor League Scouting, Personnel/Coordinator of Pro Scouting and as Baseball Operations Assistant. At 27, Minasian took over as the Brewers’ Professional Scouting Director, becoming the youngest Scouting Director in baseball. While with the Brewers, Minasian assisted in the Brewers three playoff appearances, most notably ending a 26-year playoff drought in 2008 and a franchise best 96 wins in 2011. While with Milwaukee, Minasian was a part of acquiring players such as: CC Sabathia, Zack Greinke, Carlos Gomez, Josh Hader, Corey Knebel, Jean Segura and Will Smith among others.

Minasian grew up in a Major League clubhouse beginning at age five and worked as a batboy/clubhouse attendant for his father, Zack Sr., who is the longtime clubhouse manager with the Texas Rangers. Minasian’s brother, Perry, is the General Manager for the Los Angeles Angels and his brother, Calvin, is the Director of Equipment & Clubhouse Services for the Atlanta Braves. Minasian is godson to late Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda and his wife, Jo.

Paul Bien Vice President, Baseball Analytics

Paul Bien was promoted to his current position of Vice President, Baseball Analytics in 2022. He is responsible for overseeing the organization’s baseball analytics department in utilizing data and technology to deliver information to Scouting, Player Development, and Major League coaching staffs. He also provides quantitative research and analysis in support of all aspects of Baseball Operations, with a focus on evaluating potential player acquisitions at all levels.

The Palo Alto, CA native began his career with the Giants in 2012 after previous experience with Northrop Grumman and Accenture. Bien graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Electrical Engineering from UCLA, and currently resides in Berkeley with his wife Karen.

Michael Holmes Senior Director, Amateur Scouting

Michael Holmes was promoted to his current position of Senior Director, Amateur Scouting in 2022. He most recently held the title of Assistant Scouting Director for the Oakland Athletics. While with the A’s, Holmes and Farhan Zaidi worked together for 10 years.

Holmes began his professional baseball career in 1997, when he was selected by the A’s in the 18th round of the draft out of Wake Forest. With the Demon Deacons, Holmes was a four-year standout from 1994-97 and was named the team’s MVP in 1996. After spending four seasons pitching in the lower levels of the A’s system, Holmes joined the Wake Forest coaching staff in January, 2001. In addition to coaching at Wake Forest, Holmes spent his summer in 2001 as a Pitching Coach for Brewster in the Cape Cod League.

Holmes started his career as the A’s Area Scout in the Carolinas and later served as the A’s East Coast Cross-Checker before being named Assistant Scouting Director, a position he held since 2009.

Joe Salermo Senior Director, International Scouting

Joe Salermo is currently serving as the Senior Director of International Scouting, a position he was promoted to in 2022. In his role he oversees the scouting and acquisition of International amateur players as well as Cuban amateur and professional players, while also providing coverage with Asian professional baseball leagues and International professional winter leagues.

Salermo’s first year as a scout was with the Mets in 1997, working as an associate scout before becoming the South Florida Area Supervisor with the Mets in 1999. Salermo later won the South Florida Scout of the Year award (2007). He first came to the Giants in 2009 as the Latin American Crosschecker, than became International Crosschecker in 2013, and finally in 2015 became Director of International Scouting.

He was born in Manzanillo, Cuba and came to the United States with his family when he was 10 years old. Salermo played baseball at Monmouth University in New Jersey, and graduated from Kean University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He now makes his home in Hallandale Beach, FL. 

Kyle Haines Senior Director, Player Development

Kyle Haines was hired by the Giants in 2015. He is currently serving as Senior Director of Player Development, a position he was promoted to in 2022. During Haines’ tenure, Triple-A Sacramento won a National Championship in 2019 while Double-A Richmond, High-A Eugene and Single-A San Jose have all won First and Second Half Titles. He’s seen the graduation to the Majors of top prospects like right-handed pitcher Logan Webb, left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison, right-handed pitcher Camilo Doval, catcher Patrick Bailey and infielder Marco Luciano. In 2022, Haines also helped transition the Giants’ shift to Papago Park, the team’s new minor league spring training and player development complex in Phoenix.

Haines was selected by the Giants in the 31st round of the 2004 draft and played 10 minor league seasons, including five within the Giants organization. In 2017, he served as the manager for the Richmond Flying Squirrels and was named “Best Manager Prospect” in the Eastern League by Baseball America. Haines also managed Salem-Keizer for two seasons (2015-2016) and spent the 2018 year as Assistant Director of Player Development of Instruction.

He graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and Sports Management along with a Minor in Business. He also has an Associate’s Degree from Olney Central College. His brother, Andy, is the Hitting Coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Jose Bonilla Senior Director, International Operations & Baseball Administration

Jose Bonilla is responsible for day-to-day communication and coordination with international scouting personnel, collaborates in helping oversee the Felipe Alou Academy in the Dominican Republic, while also providing support in a variety of baseball operations related areas. He received his B.A. in Economics from the University of California, San Diego, and received his Master’s in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco. Bonilla lives in Fresno with his wife, Caroline and daughter, Jacqueline.

Michael Schwartze Senior Directo, Baseball Analytics & Process Coach

Michael Schwartze began his career with the Giants in 2018. He provides research and analysis in support of various areas of Baseball Operations, focusing on support for the Major League team and Player Development staff. The Tacoma, WA native earned a Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Economics and Finance from Seattle University and currently resides in San Francisco, CA.

Craig Weissmann Special Assistant, Scouting

Craig Weissmann has over 30 years of scouting experience and pitched professionally for 11 seasons. He began his career with the Giants in 2020 as a Special Assistant to Scouting. Most recently he was VP of Player Personnel for the Miami Marlins before moving on to the Dodgers for two years as a Special Assignment Scout. Weissmann attended USIU in San Diego where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations. He and his wife, Katharine, reside in La Costa, CA.

Ron Wotus Special Assistant to Baseball Operations

Ron Wotus has been a part of the Giants organization for over 35 years. In 2022 he started his new role as Special Assistant to Baseball Operations. Wotus now serves as a mentor to the coaching staff and players at both the major and minor league levels and provides on field instruction. He attends Giants Spring Training Camp in Scottsdale, AZ and visits the minor league affiliates each year.

Prior to his new role with the organization, Wotus completed his 24th season on the Giants Major League coaching staff in 2021. The longest-tenured coach in franchise history, he joined the Giants’ staff in 1998 and worked under Dusty Baker, Felipe Alou, Bruce Bochy and Gabe Kapler, working as a Bench Coach and Third Base Coach.

Wotus was one of just six individuals since 1900 to serve as a Giants coach for at least 10 years, joining Mark Gardner (15 years, 2003-2017), Larry Jansen (12 years, 1954 and 1961-71), Bob Lillis (11 years, 1986-96), Dave Righetti (18 years, 2000-2017) and Wes Westrum (10 years, 1958-63 and 1968-71).

He has worked with four players that have won NL Gold Gloves under his watch: J.T. Snow (1999, 2000), Omar Vizquel (2005, 2006), Brandon Crawford (2015, 2016, 2017, 2021) and Joe Panik (2016).

Wotus coached at Class-A Clinton (Iowa) in 1990 before managing in San Francisco’s minor league system for seven years from 1991-97. His clubs, ranging from Class-A to Triple-A, reached the playoffs in every year but one. He was twice named Manager of the Year, while posting an overall record of 554-412 (.574). Wotus was the manager of Class-A Advanced San Jose Giants (1991-92), Double-A Shreveport Captains (1993-95) and Triple-A Phoenix Firebirds (1996-97). He was named California League Manager of the Year in 1991 after leading San Jose to a 92-44 record. In 1997, he was named Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year after the Firebirds finished 88-55, winning 41 of their final 51 games. Wotus became the Giants Third Base Coach in 1998 under manager Dusty Baker and served as Bench Coach from 1999-2017 under Baker, Felipe Alou and Bruce Bochy.

The Connecticut native has been in professional baseball for just about his entire adult life. The Pirates selected him in the 16th round in 1979 and he enjoyed an 11-year professional career, including parts of the 1983 and 1984 seasons with Pittsburgh. A middle infielder, Wotus went 12-for-58 in parts of two seasons with the Pirates. He made his Major League debut on Sept. 3, 1983 in Atlanta and recorded his first big league hit, a single, off the Dodgers’ Orel Hershiser at Los Angeles on July 4, 1984. His final two seasons as a player came with the Giants’ Triple-A affiliate in Phoenix in 1988 and 1989.

Wotus graduated from Bacon (Colchester, CT) Academy in 1979. He and his wife, Laurie, reside in Pleasant Hill, CA.

Sam Geaney Special Assistant to Baseball Operations

Sam Geaney began his career with the Giants in 2022 after having spent the previous seven years with the San Diego Padres (2014-21), leading the organization’s player development department. Geaney was named as Director of Player Development on October 20, 2014 and later promoted to Senior Director following the 2018 season. Geaney was tasked with overseeing several top Padres prospects such as Fernando Tatis Jr., Chris Paddack, Ryan Weathers and Dinelson Lamet.

Prior to joining San Diego, Geaney spent the previous nine seasons (2006-14) with the Oakland Athletics and the last three as the club’s Coordinator of International Scouting.

Geaney began his career in baseball as an intern for the Athletics’ baseball operations department in 2006 before joining the staff full-time in 2007 as an assistant in the scouting department as well as serving as an area scout for Northern California. After being promoted to coordinator of scouting with the A’s, he was named the club’s Coordinator of International Scouting in January of 2012.

Geaney graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2007 with a degree in Political Science.

Karen Sweeney Executive Assistant, Baseball Operations & Administration

Karen Sweeney started her baseball career with the Giants in 1989 as Assistant to the Scouting Director. In 1993 she started her role as Executive Assistant to the General Manager. In her role as Executive Assistant, Baseball Operations and Administration, Sweeney coordinates many aspects in the day-to-day operations of scouting, player development and front office Major and Minor League baseball operations. She is a native Californian and resides in San Francisco, CA.

Clara Ho-Frawley Director, Baseball Personnel Administration

Clara Ho-Frawley has been a part of the Giants organization for over 20 years. She is responsible for risk management and workers’ compensation for players and Baseball Operations’ personnel. She also oversees Minor League player benefits, MLB’s Continuing Education Program (CEP), collaborates in oversight of department financial and budgetary processes, the player education and cultural development program, and supports other areas of Major and Minor league administration. She received her BA in Business with an emphasis in Human Resources and Organizational Behavior at Texas A&M University and earned a Master’s in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco. Athletically, she was an NCAA Scholar-athlete, All-American swimmer and USA National Team member. Ho-Frawley resides in the Bay Area with her husband and two sons.

Dr. Shana Alexander Director, Mental Health & Wellness, & EAP

Dr. Shana Alexander serves as the Director of Mental Health & Wellness & EAP for the Giants. She is responsible for off the field mental health needs of players and staff. Alexander earned her Bachelor’s Degree from UC Davis and her Master’s and Doctorate at Argosy University in Santa Ana, CA. She was trained as a generalist but specializes in sport and health psychology. Alexander has also worked internationally in Sydney, Australia and also in many other diverse settings. She was born in Lawrence, KS but calls Northern California home.

Felix Peguero Director, International Scouting

Felix Peguero is responsible for the operations in the Dominican Republic, and is also in charge of coordinating the scouting efforts within the country. Peguero also serves as a Cross Checker in Latin America, providing coverage in Venezuela, Panama, Nicaragua, Mexico, Curacao, Colombia, and throughout Latin America. In addition to his Giants duties, Peguero also currently the General Manager/Director of Baseball Operations for the Estrellas Orientales. He originally joined the Giants organization in 2006 as a player coach and then was elevated to an area scout in 2007. He and his wife, Fabiola, reside in Santo Domingo, DR with their sons, Felix Jose and Luis Felipe.

Caleb Whang Director, Software Engineering, Baseball Systems

Caleb Whang is responsible for leading technology initiatives for the Baseball Operations data and application platforms. He was born and raised in San Francisco and currently resides in Southern California with his wife Susan, and their two children, CJ and Olive.

Adam Rodrigues Director, Performance Nutrition

Adam Rodrigues serves as the Director of Performance Nutrition in which he oversees performance nutrition throughout the entire organization. Prior to his current role, he was responsible for the performance nutrition needs within the Giants Minor League system while assisting the Major League team. Prior to joining the Giants, Rodrigues worked in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders. He received his Master’s Degree in Allied Health: Medical Dietetics from The Ohio State University where he worked with a variety of collegiate sports. He currently resides with his wife Frankie in Phoenix Arizona.

James Clifford Director of Strength and Conditioning

James Clifford starts his first year with the San Francisco Giants organization as the Director of Strength and Conditioning. Prior to joining the Giants, Clifford spent 30 years with the Seattle Mariners, including a six-year playing career as a Minor League first baseman and DH. Clifford holds an impressive portfolio of certifications including, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach Emeritus (RSCC*E), Functional Range Conditioning (FRC), On Base University (OBU), Functional Movement Screen (FMS level 1&2) and also completed the Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) Specialist Program. Clifford is actively engaged in the Professional Baseball Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society (PBSCCS). In 2022, he was voted the MLB Strength Coach of the Year. A Seattle native, James attended the University of Washington where he played both football and baseball. He resides in Peoria, AZ with his wife Kimberley and three daughters Kaelyn, Kennedy and Kinley.

Ed Lucas Assistant Director, Player Development

Ed Lucas serves as Assistant Director, Player Development for the Giants. He previously served as the Hitting Coordinator for the Giants. Prior to joining San Francisco, Lucas spent the 2020 season with the Milwaukee Brewers as their Hitting Coordinator. In 2019, he was the Player Information Assistant for the Philadelphia Phillies. Lucas spent two season with the Miami Marlins as their Major League Administrative Coach and Replay Coordinator from 2017-2018. Originally an eighth-round pick by the Kansas City Royals in 2004, he enjoyed a 13-year playing career for seven different organizations. Lucas made his big-league debut in May 2013 for the Marlins and appeared in 163 games over two seasons. He played six different positions, including first base, second base, third base, shortstop, left field and right field. While with Miami he was teammates with current Giant Anthony DeSclafani. He hit his first career home run off Barry Zito at Oracle Park on June 22, 2013. Lucas attended Dartmouth College from 2001-2004 and was named Ivy League Player of the Year in 2004. He currently resides in Jupiter, Florida with his wife Holly and sons Rhodes, Brooks, and Des.

Laura Núñez Assistant Director, Player Development - Education

Laura Núñez is responsible for the academic progress, acculturation and life skills program for all Latin American minor league players in the Dominican Republic and affiliates in the United States. She is a graduate of Universidad Accion Pro-Educacion y Cultura in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where she is originally from. She currently resides in Tempe, AZ.

Gabriel Alvarez Assistant Director, Player Development - Operations

Gabriel Alvarez oversees the day-to-day minor league operations, working closely with all departments within Player Development and with an emphasis on international players. Alvarez is a graduate from the University of Southern California. Born in Tijuana, Mexico, Alvarez grew up in Anaheim Hills, CA, and now resides in Scottsdale, AZ.

Yo Miyamoto Manager, Baseball Video Systems

Yo Miyamoto manages the capture and use of video by the Major League team and assists the coaching staff with their replay review efforts. Miyamoto also provides technical input on infrastructure and resourcing needs throughout the organization. A Peninsula native, Miyamoto earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from UC San Diego and a Juris Doctor degree from Concord School of Law.

Francis Mieses Manager, Dominican Republic Facilities

Francis Mieses is responsible for managing the short and long term maintenance of the Dominican Republic facilities, including baseball fields, dormitories, and office spaces. Mieses received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in Santo Domingo, and currently resides in Santo Domingo with his wife, Maria.

Mike Navolio Manager, Amateur Scouting Operations

Mike Navolio currently focuses on amateur scouting operations. He is responsible for coordinating the draft operations of the Club and helps manage all player information related to scouting, selecting, and signing players eligible for the amateur draft. He also contributes to amateur player evaluation and analysis. Navolio was born and raised in Walnut Creek, CA and is a graduate of Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo. He currently resides in Concord, CA with his wife, Chelsey and dog, Vino.

Patrick Yount Coordinator, Baseball Video Systems

Patrick Yount supports the Major League team’s replay review efforts and coordinates all aspects of the organization’s baseball video systems. The Deerfield Beach, FL native earned his Master’s degree in Computer Science from Florida State University and resides in Hercules, CA with his wife, Leah, and children, Eleanor, Thomas, and Benjamin.

Josh Zimmerman, Coordinator, Baseball Operations

Josh Zimmerman is responsible for daily coordination and analysis for Pro Scouting as well as support for Baseball Operations Administration areas such as contracts and salary arbitration. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Political Science and was a Student Manager for the Wolverines’ baseball team. A Bay Area native, he currently resides in San Francisco.

Joan Cuevas Coordinator, International Baseball Operations

Joan Cuevas is responsible for assisting with administration of various international tasks, including immigration, player/staff travel, and scouting administration. Cuevas previously worked for MLB Investigations for seven years prior to joining the Giants. He received a Bachelor of Law Degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana with a Master’s in Negotiation. Cuevas currently resides in Santo Domingo with his wife, Lorenny.

Jacob Koch Ohye Coordinator, Minor League Operations

Jake Koch Ohye currently serves as the Coordinator of Minor League Operations. In 2019, he worked in the Dominican Republic with the Tampa Bay Rays organization working with their International Operations department. From 2016-2018, Koch was a Minor League Video/Advance Scouting Intern with the Cleveland Indians organization and in 2015 he worked as a Minor League Video Intern with the Houston Astros organization. Koch graduated from Xavier University (OH) with a Major in Sports Management & Minor in Business and attended Irvington High School in Fremont, CA. He currently resides in Mesa, AZ with his wife Erica.

Nicholas Horning Coordinator, Minor League Video & Technology

Nick Horning manages all video and technology processes within Player Development from the DR to AAA. Horning graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Sport Management where he began his baseball career as a student manager for the Texas Longhorns baseball program. Originally from Fond du Lac, WI, he currently lives in Scottsdale, AZ.

Eleanor Martin Assistant, Baseball Operations

Eleanor Martin provides support across day-to-day Baseball Operations, with a focus on Amateur Scouting and Baseball Administration. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelors in Finance and Risk Management, where she earned Academic All Big-10 honors in rowing. Martin is originally from Evanston, IL and currently resides in San Francisco.

Brian Huey Senior Data Scientist

Brian Huey works on statistical inference to support Baseball Operations. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from University of California, Berkeley. Originally from Pacifica, CA, he currently resides in Oakland, CA with his partner Sarah.

Simon Ricci Baseball Operations Senior Analyst

Simon Ricci serves as a Baseball Operations Senior Analyst, where he focuses on player development and player evaluation with the R&D department. Before joining the Giants, he interned with the Houston Astros and the Chicago Cubs while earning a BS in physics at the California Institute of Technology. In addition to baseball, Ricci also loves running and won the 2022 San Francisco Marathon. A native Chicagoan, he lives in San Francisco.

Jack Norman Baseball Operations Senior Analyst

Jack Norman works on statistical modeling and analytical tooling to support Baseball Operations. He graduated from University of California, Davis with a B.S. in statistics and from University of San Francisco with an M.S. in data science. He grew up a Giants fan in Petaluma, California, and now lives in Oakland with his wife, Alyssa.

Mark Ferraro Baseball Operations Analyst

Mark Ferraro currently serves as a Baseball Operations Analyst, supporting the Player Development staff with research and analysis. Amanda Glazer Baseball Operations Associate Analyst

Amanda Glazer uses statistics and data analysis to support the Baseball Operations staff. A lifelong Giants fan, Glazer earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics with a minor in Computer Science from Harvard University. Glazer is currently in her fourth year of a Statistics PhD at UC Berkeley where her research focuses on casual interference. Originally born and raised in Davis, CA, Glazer now lives in Berkeley.

Rose Graves Baseball Operations Associate Analyst

Rose Graves serves as a Baseball Operations Associate Analyst. Her primary role is utilizing data analysis and probabilistic modeling to support Baseball Operations staff. Prior to joining the Giants, she worked as an analyst for the Houston Astros. Graves got her undergraduate degree from Duke University and is currently studying to earn her PhD in Statistics at Rice University with a specialization in Bayesian Statistics. She resides in Houston, TX.

Kevin Deggelman Staff Software Engineer, Baseball Systems

Kevin Deggelman joined the Giants in July of 2019. He is responsible for building out data pipelines and web applications for the baseball operations team. Prior to joining the Giants, Deggelman worked at a variety of tech companies in the Bay Area, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from UCLA in 2010. Deggelman currently lives in the Bay Area with his wife and two daughters.

Eddie Elliott Staff Software Engineer, Baseball Systems

Eddie Elliott works on designing and developing data visualizations to support Baseball Operations. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UC Berkeley and a Master’s in Visual Studies from MIT. Krystine Xie Software Engineer, Baseball Systems

Krystine Xie joined the Giants organization in August 2021. She is responsible for building and maintaining the team’s internal web application. She holds a BSc. in Kinesiology from McGill University and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from University of Melbourne. Prior to joining the Giants, she was a physical therapist and an athletic trainer. She was born and raised in Montreal, QC, and currently resides in the Bay Area.

Matt Fong Software Engineer, Baseball Systems

Matt Fong joined the Giants in April of 2019. He is responsible for building data pipelines and infrastructure for use by the Baseball Operations Analysts. A lifelong Giants fan who grew up in nearby Fremont, CA, Fong graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor’s in EECS and Bioengineering (2014) and a Master’s in Computer Science (2015). Fong and his wife, Stephanie, currently reside in Sunnyvale, CA.

Matt Chan Manager, Performance Science

Matt (Ming-Sheng) Chan joined the Giants in 2020. Chan’s responsibility is to provide thought leadership to the front office on performance science and biomechanics related topics. He works across all departments to integrate baseball analytics, sports science, and biomechanics to identify and maximize baseball talents. Chan is originally from Taiwan, and he completed his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California in Biokinesiology with an emphasis in Biomechanics.

Alek Diffendaffer Senior Performance Scientist

Alek Diffendaffer started with the Giants in 2022. As a biomechanist, Diffendaffer is responsible for evaluating players for performance enhancement and injury prevention using different motion capture systems throughout the organization and providing biomechanical reports back to coaches, coordinators and the front office. Diffendaffer is also responsible for managing and operating the biomechanics laboratories housed in the Papago complex in Arizona. The Colorado native received his Master’s degree in Biomechanics from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and resides in Queen Creek with his wife and three children.

Dylan Suarez Senior Applied Sports Scientist

Dylan Suarez is responsible for leading Sports Science initiatives across the organization, which involves bridging the gap between areas such as Medical, S&C, Nutrition, Performance Science, and on-field performance in order to most effectively assess, monitor, and influence player health and performance. Suarez is originally from Orlando, FL, and completed his Ph.D. in Sports Physiology and Performance at ETSU in Johnson City, TN. He currently resides in Phoenix with his wife, Abby.

Ericber Jiménez Francisco Senior Performance Science Analyst

Ericber Jiménez joined the Giants in 2021. As a Performance Science Analyst, Dr. Jiménez is responsible for developing biomechanics initiatives within the analytics and player development departments. Dr. Jiménez is closely involved in the biomechanical assessment of players, based on in-game and in-lab data. The Dominican Republic native completed his PhD at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and resides in Phoenix with his wife Yanil.

Nick Lobb Performance Scientist

Nick Lobb joined the Giants in 2022. He is primarily responsible for coordinating the collection of in-game player tracking data across major and minor league stadiums. He also works on various biomechanics projects and player reports. Lobb is originally from northwest Washington and completed both his undergraduate and Master’s degrees at Boise State University in Boise, ID.

Tatiana Luna Performance Science

Tatiana Luna is primarily works on in-game biomechanical research initiatives to support player performance. Luna received her PhD from Columbia University in Mechanical Engineering. Her PhD research focused on using cable-driven robotics to assist human motion and rehabilitation. She was originally born in El Salvador but grew up in Florida. She currently resides in San Francisco, Calif.

McKenzie Walsh Performance Science Specialist

McKenzie Walsh started with the Giants in 2022. As the Performance Science Specialist Walsh is responsible for developing biomechanics educational practices and tools used by the player development departments including coaches, coordinators, and front office. She also works on the biomechanics assessment of players through various motion capture systems in the Papago Biomechanics lab. The California native received a BA in Biology and a BS in Psychology from the University of New Mexico where she was a Softball NCAA-Scholar Athlete. She completed her Masters in Biomechanics from Arizona State University. She resides in the Phoenix area.

Kyle Johns Performance Science Assistant

Kyle Johns works for the Giants in their performance science department. He works on in-game biomechanical research while supporting Giants’ minor league affiliates from a performance science perspective. Johns played college baseball at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he graduated with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. Originally from central New Jersey, he currently resides in San Francisco, CA

Toshiki Aburaki Major League Operations Fellow

Toshiki Aburaki provides support across baseball operations with a focus on major league advance and international scouting. After pitching at the JUCO level for three years, Aburaki graduated from University of Maryland, College Park with a BS in Business Analytics and Information Systems. He spent time in three different cities growing up (Boston, MA, Tokyo, Japan, & Bethesda, MD) where he became bilingual and gained cultural awareness. He currently resides in San Francisco, Calif.

Christian Long Scouting Fellow

Christian Long assists in the scouting department in preparation for the Amateur Draft and trade deadline. Prior to 2023, he was an Associate Analyst in Player Development. Long is originally from Houston, Texas, but left to attend Wake Forest University where he played baseball as well as doing a Graduate Certificate year at the University of Missouri.

Abby Curlett Associate, Baseball Video Systems

Abby Curlett started with the Giants in 2024. She supports the video systems staff in capturing and distributing video content for player development. Prior to joining the Giants, she worked various administrative roles alongside a Pitch Timing Internship with Inside Edge. The Bay Area native graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelors of Arts in Cinema and currently resides in the East Bay.

Ellis Burks Pro Scout

Ellis Burks currently serves as a Pro Scout after previously working as a Special Assistant for Scouting. He served as a Special Instructor for the Giants in 2017 during Spring Training. He was originally acquired by the Giants on July 31, 1998 from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for OF Darryl Hamilton and RHP Jim Stoops. Burks played all or part of 18 seasons in the Majors with Boston (1987-1992), Chicago-AL (1993), Colorado (1994-98), San Francisco (1998-2000), Cleveland (2001-03) and Boston (2004). After the 2005 season, Burks joined the Indians’ front office staff as a Special Assistant to the General Manager.

Keith Champion Pro Scout

Keith Champion enters his 43rd season in professional baseball and his 13th season with the San Francisco Giants. Champion signed originally with St. Louis where he played, coached and managed in the Cardinal minor league system (1982-1991) before managing in the San Diego Padres system (1992-1994). He began his scouting career as the Advance/Major League Scout for the Chicago Cubs (1995-2006). He later scouted for Boston (2007-2008) and Pittsburgh (2009-2011) before joining the Giants in 2012 as an Advance Scout and now currently a Pro Scout. Champion was born in Granite City, IL. A graduate from Missouri State University, he currently lives in Ballwin, MO. He has three children named Claire, Julia, and Christopher.

Jim D’Aloia Pro Scout

Jim D’Aloia began working as a Pro Scout with the Giants in 2020 after spending the previous nine seasons in the pro scouting department with the New York Mets. D’Aloia was promoted to Director of Professional Scouting in 2011 before another promotion to Senior Director, Professional Scouting. Prior to his time in New York, D’Aloia served as a Pro Scout with the Blue Jays from 2005-2010 and was Toronto’s Pro Scout of the Year in 2009. Prior to his work in pro scouting, he served as the Chief Financial Officer for Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. As a player, he was selected in the 33rd round of the 1980 free agent draft and was a member of three minor league championship teams in the Yankees system. He and his wife, Carol, have been married for 35 years and have two children, James, who graduated from The New Jersey Institute of Technology with a Mechanical Engineering Degree, and Michael, who graduated from Rutgers with an Economics Degree. They also have two grandchildren, James and Reese.

Jalal Leach Pro Scout

Jalal Leach currently serves as a scout for the Giants after spending the previous five seasons as a scout in the Miami Marlins chain. Leach also worked as a Giants scout from 2015-2018. Leach signed originally with the Yankees in 1990 and played for 15 years with the Yankees, Expos, Mariners, Giants and Phillies organizations. He made his Major League debut in 2001 with the Giants. He began working as a scout with the Yankees from 2010-2015. Leach was born in Novato, California. He had two children named Jada 22) and Dante (21).

Ben McDonough Pro Scout

Ben McDonough currently works as a Pro Scout with the Giants after nearly nine years with the Milwaukee Brewers. In his time with the Brewers, McDonough worked his way from an intern in pro scouting to his most recent position of Pro Scouting Cross Checker, which he had held from November 2017 until being hired by the Giants. He attended the University of Arizona and received a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Business Management in 2010. McDonough and his wife, Emily, make their offseason home in Phoenix, AZ.

Yadalla Mufdi Pro Scout

Yadalla Mufdi currently serves as a Pro Scout for the San Francisco Giants after spending the previous three seasons with the Detroit Tigers, most recently holding the position of Major League Scout. Mufdi played two years of baseball at Catawba College before graduating from Barry University with a Bachelors in Sports Management and a Minor in Business Administration. He currently resides in West Palm Beach, Florida with his wife, Diana, and their two daughters, Emma and Mila.

Ross Pruitt Pro Scout

Ross Pruitt joined the Giants in 2021 after spending the prior four years working as a Pro and Amateur Scout with the Milwaukee Brewers. He began his time in Milwaukee as a Pro Scout from 2016-2017 before taking a dual role as a Pro/Amateur scout in November, 2017. Prior to his time on the scouting side, he worked as a Minor League Operations Intern with the Brewers from 2014 to early 2015. His career in baseball began with the Houston Astros, where he worked in sales from May 2012-December 2013. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration and Sports Management from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, OH where he also played baseball.

Ryan Thompson Pro Scout

Ryan Thompson joined the Giants in October 2019 and after spending the previous nine years with the Milwaukee Brewers. He served as a Pro Scout with Milwaukee from 2010-2017 before serving as the Pro Scouting Cross Checker with the Brewers from September 2017 until being hired by San Francisco. Prior to his years as a Scout, he played professionally for Houston from 2004-2008, reaching as high Double-A Corpus Christi as a right-handed reliever. Thompson attended Florida Southern College and was a four-year letterman on the baseball team. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Graphic Design.

Shane Turner Pro Scout

Shane Turner currently serves as a Pro Scout for the Giants. From 2008-2013, Turner served as the Giants Coordinator of Minor League Operations. In this role, Turner traveled to each of the Giants’ minor league affiliates to work closely with SF’s young players. In his 20-plus years with the Giants, Turner has managed or coached at every level within the Giants’ minor league system. The highlight of his managerial career came in 1998 when he led Class A Advanced San Jose to a league-best 83-57 record and the California League Championship, the first ever in San Jose’s affiliation with San Francisco. Turner played professionally for 11 years as an infielder in the minor league systems of Chicago-AL, Baltimore, San Francisco, Seattle, Philadelphia and New York-AL. Turner resides in Sinking Spring, PA with his wife Beth and their two children.

John Castleberry National Cross Checker

John Castleberry currently serves as a National Cross Checker for the Giants. His first year as a scout was with the Marlins in 1991 and began working as a scout with the Giants in 2009. Castleberry was inducted into the George Washington University Hall of Fame. His number is retired in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the former Orleans Cardinals now called the Orleans Firebirds. He was named 1985 Coach of the Year in the CCBL and was the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 1989. He was born in Tacoma, WA and currently lives in High Point, NC with his wife of 37 years, Kate.

Daniel Murray National Pitching Cross Checker

Daniel Murray currently serves as a National Pitching Cross Checker for the Giants. Murray signed originally with the Mets in 1995 and played for nine years with the Mets, Royals, and Rangers organizations. Following his career as a player, he coached four seasons in the Mets organization. He began working as a scout with the Giants in 2011. Murray was born in Garden Grove, CA and currently resides in Prairie Village, KS with his wife, Sarah, and his two daughters.

Arnold Brathwaite Northeast Supervisor

Arnold Brathwaite currently serves as the Northeast Supervisor. Brathwaite’s first year as a scout was with the Angels in 2003 and began working as a scout with the Giants in 2011. He was born in St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands and currently lives in Linthicum Heights, MD with his wife, Erin Brathwaite. He has one child named Nikolai.

Jim Buckley Southeast Supervisor

Jim Buckley currently works as the Southeast Supervisor for the Giants. He comes to the Giants from the Kansas City Royals where he was an Area Scout since 2012 in North & Central Florida, as well as South Georgia. Buckley was the signing scout for four players the Royals selected in the first 10 rounds of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, including their first round selection Brady Singer. He played high school baseball at Park Hill High School (Kansas City), Sienna College (Loudonville, NY), and professionally in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Andrew Jefferson Midwest Supervisor

Andrew Jefferson currently serves as the Midwest Supervisor. Jefferson was drafted in the 42nd Round by the Giants in 2002 and played for three years with the Giants organization. He began working as a scout with the Giants in 2007 and is credited with the signing of current 40-man roster player Tyler Beede (2014). Jefferson was born in Baltimore, MD and currently lives in St. Louis, MO with his wife, Kristin and daughter, Ava.

Matt Woodward West Supervisor

Matt Woodward currently serves as the West Supervisor for the Giants. He signed originally with the Mariners in 1998 and played for two years with the Mariners organization. He began working as a scout with the Giants in 2002. Woodward was born in Tallahassee, FL and currently lives in Camas, WA with his wife, Stephanie. He has two daughters named Mallory and Maya and a son named Miller.

Jose Alou Area Scout/Latin American Cross Checker

Jose Alou currently serves as an Area Scout covering South Florida as well as serving as a Latin American Cross Checker on the international side of the organization. Alou signed originally with the Expos in 1984 and played for six years with the Expos organization. He was also a second-round pick in the 1984 draft by the Giants, but did not sign. He began working as a scout with the Giants in 2014. Alou was born in San Francisco, CA and currently lives in Boynton Beach, FL with his wife, Sharon. He has two children named Taylor and Trevor.

Yancy Ayres Area Scout

Yancy Ayres currently serves as an Area Scout for the Giants. Ayres started scouting in 2006 as an Area Scout in Florida for the Oakland A’s. He then moved to the Midwest and scouted for the A’s through 2015, winning their Scout of the Year award in 2009. In 2015, he began cross checking the Midwest for the San Diego Padres through 2021. Ayres was born in Smith Center, KS before attending high school in Flagstaff, AZ where he went on to earn All-State in both baseball and football. He was drafted by the KC Royals in 1998 after three years playing catcher at Kansas State University. Prior to scouting, he had stints coaching in the Cape Cod League (Falmouth Commodores) and at Emporia State University (2006 DII World Series). He currently lives in Topeka, KS with his wife Jennifer and three daughters, Ellie, Parker, and Baylee.

Ray Callari Area Scout

Ray Callari currently serves as an Area Scout covering Eastern Canada and Upstate NY, VT, NH, ME, RI, MA, CT. Callari signed originally with the Expos in 1990 and played for two years with the Expos organization. He began working as a scout with the Giants in 2008. Prior to joining SF, he worked as a part-time scout with the Reds from 2003-06. Callari was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and currently lives in Montreal. Brad Cameron currently serves as an Area Scout covering Southern California. Cameron’s first year as a scout was with the Indians in 1994. He began working as a scout with the Giants in 2008. Larry Casian Area Scout

Larry Casian currently serves as an Area Scout covering the Pacific Northwest. Todd Coryell Area Scout

John DiCarlo currently serves as an Area Scout covering the Northeastern States. DiCarlo began working as a scout with the Giants in 2000 and won the 2011 Mid Atlantic Scouts Association Scout of the Year award. Jim Gabella Area Scout

Jim Gabella currently serves as an Area Scout covering Central and Northern Florida. Gabella signed originally with the White Sox in 1976 and played for five years with the White Sox and Mariners organizations. He began working as a scout with the Giants in 2014. He was born in Cleveland, OH and currently lives in Deltona, FL with his wife of 41 years, Cindi Gabella. He has one son named Cody, who works with the Atlanta Braves and is the manager in Augusta.

Stefen Henderson Area Scout

Henderson began his professional baseball career in 2013 when as an undrafted free agent sign by the Dodgers from the Academy of Art University. Henderson was a four-year standout for the Urban Knights and is the career leader in multiple offensive categories. After spending two seasons in the lower levels of the Dodgers farm system, and one season of Indy ball, Henderson coached at the Varsity High School level and Junior College level before he joined the Urban knights coaching staff in August 2019. Henderson began his career in scouting as the West Coast Video Scout for the Chicago Cubs in January 2023. Henderson is a Bay Area native, Born in Oakland CA, and grew up where he currently resides in Vallejo, California with his wife Mariah and three kids Ace, Nyla, and Aizly.

Chuck Hensley Jr. Area Scout

Chuck Hensley Jr. currently serves as an Area Scout for the Giants covering Arizona, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming. Chuck signed originally with the Tigers in 1980 and played for 11 years with the Tigers, A’s, Brewers, Giants, Braves, Dodgers, and Mariners organizations. He began working as a scout with the Giants in 1991. Over his career he has won the 1998 Scout of the Year award with the Mets. Hensley Jr. was born in Tulare, CA and currently lives in Mesa, AZ with his wife of 30 years, Sandy Hensley. He has two children, Julia and Charlie.

DJ Jauss Area Scout

DJ Jauss started with the Giants amateur scouting department in 2019. After covering the Upper Midwest for three drafts he now covers North and South Carolina. He played baseball at East Carolina University while completing his undergraduate studies and then played at the University of Massachusetts Amherst while completing his graduate work. Jauss played one season of professional baseball with the Washington Nationals before playing and coaching for two seasons in Germany, two seasons in Australia, and one season in Belgium.

Michael Kendall Area Scout/Pacific Rim

Michael Kendall currently works in amateur evaluation after a successful stint serving as a Pro Scout. Kendall’s first year as a scout was with the Pirates in 1998 and began working as a scout with the Giants in 2005. He is the son of former Major League catcher Fred Kendall and the brother of former Major League catcher Jason Kendall. He is credited with the signing of current 40-man roster player Brandon Crawford (2008). He graduated from San Diego State University (1990-1994), where he played baseball. Kendall was also a coach at The University of Toledo from 1996-1998. He was born in Torrance, CA and currently resides in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA with his wife, Keri. Nick Long Territory: Area Scout

Nick Long started with the Giants in 2022. Long currently serves as the Area Scout covering Georgia and East Tennessee. Prior to joining the Giants he worked six years with the San Diego Padres as the Area Scout in Southern California. Before his scouting career began, he was drafted in 2001 and signed by the (then) Montreal Expos out of HS in his hometown of Columbus, GA and played six years all with the Expos organization. He and his wife, Jessica, currently reside in Atlanta, GA.

James Mouton Area Scout

James Mouton currently serves as an Area Scout covering southern Louisiana and southern Texas. Mouton signed originally with the Astros in 1991 and played for eight years with the Astros, Padres, Expos, Brewers, and Diamondbacks organizations. He began working as a scout with the Giants in 2015. He was born in Denver, CO and currently lives in Missouri City, TX with his wife, Lisa Mouton. Tom Shafer Area Scout

Tom Shafer started with the Giants in 2022 after serving as an Area Scout in the upper Midwest. Prior to the Giants, Shafer also worked with the Seattle Mariners, Houston Astros and Cincinnati Reds. He began working as a scout in 1998 with the Chicago Cubs. He is a graduate of Creighton University, where he was a left-handed pitcher on the Bluejays’ 1991 College World Series team. Shafer currently lives in Lockport, IL with his wife, Kristi Shafer and sons, Charlie and Ben.

Jeff Wood Area Scout

Jeff Wood currently serves as an Area Scout covering Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Florida and Western Tennessee. Wood’s first year as a scout was with the Rangers in 2004, and began working as a scout with the Giants in September, 2014. He first began his baseball career in the Royals front office in 1998. Ciro Villalobos Sr. Director, Venezuela Scouting

Ciro Villalobos Sr. currently serves as the Director of Venezuela Operations. In his current role, Villalobos is responsible for overseeing the scouting, evaluation, and signing of players as well as the coordination of staff in Venezuela. Villalobos began working as a Venezuela scout with the Giants in 1997, covering amateur international players in his home country. He is credited with the signing of Giants Pablo Sandoval (2003). Villalobos was born in Maracaibo, Zulia, VZ and currently lives in Maracaibo with his wife of 31 years, Zulma. He has four children named Maria Daniela Villalobos, Ciro Daniel Villalobos, Andre Eduardo Villalobos and Santiago Villalobos. His eldest son, Ciro Daniel, is currently working as a Venezuela Scout with the Giants.

Charlie Sullivan International Cross Checker

Charlie Sullivan joined the Giants as an International Cross Checker in the summer of 2017. He began his career as an Associate Scout with Tampa Bay from 1995-1999. Following that stint, he logged six years with the Pirates, then spent 12 years as a scout with the Milwaukee Brewers. Sullivan was originally drafted by the Texas Rangers in 1991 from Vanderbilt University and played three seasons as an infielder in the Rangers organization. Originally from Connecticut, Sullivan now lives in South Florida with his wife, Ena, and his two daughters, Claritza and Nathalie.

Mike Silvestri International Cross Checker

Mike Silvestri currently serves as an International Cross Checker. Prior to the Giants, Silvestri held the same role within the Boston Red Sox organization. In 2018, he was a pro scout for the Kansas City Royals and from 2014-February 2018 he was the Director of Latin American Scouting for the Atlanta Braves. He also served in scouting capacities for the New York Mets (2011-2014) and Los Angeles Angels (2002-2010). Prior to his work as a scout he was the Head Baseball Coach at Broward College (FL) from 1999-2001 and also a head baseball coach at Monsignor Edward Pace High School in Miami from 1993-1999. Silvestri received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of South Florida. He and his wife, Rosalie, reside in South Florida with their two children, Amanda and Rocco.

Jesus Stephens Assistant Director, Dominican Republic Scouting

Jesus Stephens is responsible for cross checking top Dominican amateur players within the country. Stephens signed originally with Tampa Bay in 1996 and played for two years with the Rays organization. He also played for the Giants in 1998. He began working as a scout with the Giants in 2000. Gabriel Elias currently works as a Dominican Republic Cross Checker. He began working as a scout with the Giants in 2012 and is credited with the signing of current 40-man players Camilo Doval, Randy Rodriguez and Jose Cruz. He graduated from APEC University with a degree in International Business. Abner Abreu Dominican Republic Scout

Abner Abreu currently serves as a Dominican Republic Scout. Abreu was originally signed by the Cleveland Indians in 2006 and played in the minors until 2012. He ended his career with the Atlanta Braves and then played in Japan for four years with the Seibu Lions (2013 and 2014), Fighting Dogs (2015) and Yomiuri Giants (2016). More recently, he was a batting and outfield coach in his native Dominican Republic. This marks his fourth season as a scout for a major league organization after joining the Giants late in 2017. Leon signed originally with the New York Yankees in 2003 and played for four years with the Yankees organization. Juan Marquez works for the Giants as a Venezuela Scout. Marquez’s first year as a scout was with the Mariners in 1993 and he began working as a scout with the Giants in 2004. He also worked with the Mariners from 1993 to 1998 and the Cardinals from 1999 to 2001. Daniel Mavarez Colombia Scout

Daniel Mavarez serves as a Colombia Scout for the Giants. His first year as a scout was with the Braves in 1997 and he spent six seasons with the Padres. He began working as a scout with the Giants in 2006. Mavarez was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela and currently resides in Barranquilla, Colombia with his wife, Ivonne Castillo Pilimur. He has three children: Montserrat Mavarez, Pedro Manuel Mavarez, and Jaileen Mavarez.

Lester Victoria Curacao/Aruba Scout

Lester Victoria started with the Giants in 2023. He is currently serving as an International Scout in Curacao and Aruba. Victoria went to University of Central Florida and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Business. He was drafted in 1998 in 29th round by the Minnesota Twins where he played till 2001. He started scouting in 2003 with the Minnesota Twins Internationally and worked there until 2021. Victoria currently lives in Curacao.

Sandy Moreno Nicaragua Scout

Sandy Moreno currently works for the Giants as the Nicaragua Scout. Moreno began working as a scout with the Giants in November, 2008. Over his career he has played for Nicaragua Olympic Team in 1996 (4th Place). He was born in Ciudad Dario, Nicaragua and currently resides in Managua with his wife, María José Enríquez. Rogelio Castillo currently serves as the Giants Panama Scout. Castillo signed originally with Arizona in 2001 and played for three years with the Diamondbacks organization. Evan Hsueh Pacific Rim Scout

Evan Hsueh currently works for the Giants as a Pacific Rim Scout. Hsueh is responsible for covering areas of the Pacific Rim, including Taiwan, Korea, and Japan. Hsueh previously scouted with the Lamigo Monkeys of the CPBL for three years. He received his International Business Degree from Soochow University in Taiwan, and was born in Taipei, Taiwan, where he currently resides.

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

Tony Diggs Minor League Field Coordinator

Tony Diggs joined the Giants organization in 2020 and serves as the Minor League Field Coordinator. Prior to joining SF, Diggs spent 16 seasons in the Brewers organization in various roles. In addition to his various coaching roles, he was the Assistant Director of Player Development from 2006-13 before transitioning to an Assistant to the Director of Staff and Player Development, assisting with day-to-day administration duties in Phoenix. From 2016-2018 he also served as an outfield and baserunning coordinator. Prior to joining Milwaukee he was a minor league hitting coach in the Cardinals organization from 1998-99 and 2002-03. Additionally, he spent two years as Director of Player Development/Major League Baseball consultant with the International Baseball League of Australia and also consulted for Team Australia during the 2000 Olympics. As a player, he was selected by Milwaukee in the sixth round of the 1989 draft and played eight seasons in the minors with the Brewers (1989-93) and Cardinals (1994-96) as an outfielder reaching as high as Triple-A. He and his wife, Kim, and children, Amber, A.J., Aaron, Andrew, Aidan, Alaina and Addison, reside in Goodyear, AZ.

Justin Lehr Pitching Coordinator

Justin Lehr serves as the club’s Minor League Pitching Coordinator and his sixth overall with the Giants. He spent his first two seasons with the Giants as their Rehab Pitching Coordinator. Prior to joining SF, he worked as an Amateur Scout for the Kansas City Royals after serving as a Pro Scout for the Houston Astros until 2014. Lehr last played affiliated baseball with the Reds, pitching from 2008-11 with the Major League club and the Triple-A Louisville Bats. In 2009, Lehr started 11 games and went 5-3 with a 5.37 ERA for Cincinnati, throwing a complete game shutout against the Chicago Cubs on August 5, 2009. He was originally drafted in the eighth round out of USC by the Oakland Athletics in 1999, and pitched in relief for the A’s and Milwaukee Brewers. Over his pitching career, he made 77 Major League appearances, totaling 84 strikeouts and a 5.35 ERA in 148.0 innings.

Clayton Rapada Assistant, Pitching Coordinator

Clayton Rapada serves as the club’s Assistant Pitching Coordinator. Prior to this role, Rapada spent four years as the Pitching Coach with Class-A Augusta after having retired from a 14-year professional playing career. He appeared in parts of seven big league seasons with the Cubs (2007), Tigers (2007-09), Rangers (2010), Orioles (2011), Yankees (2012) and Indians (2013), going 8-0 with a 4.06 ERA in 152 relief appearances. The southpaw made his Major League debut with the Cubs in 2007. He ended his playing career in the Giants’ organization in 2015, pitching for Triple-A Sacramento. Overall, his minor league career numbers are 34-27 with a 2.96 ERA in 497 games. A native of Portsmouth, VA, Rapada attended Virginia State University and played on the NCAA Division II Trojans baseball team.

Matt Yourkin Rehab Pitching Coordinator

Matt Yourkin currently works as the Giants’ Rehab Pitching Coordinator. From 2018-2019, Yourkin served as the Pitching Coach at San Jose. In 2013, Yourkin served as a left-handed batting practice pitcher for the Major League squad during the first-half of the season and finished the year working for Salem-Keizer where he’d spend the next five seasons as their Pitching Coach. He was selected by San Francisco from Florida in the Rule 5 Draft on Dec. 11, 2008. Yourkin graduated from Napa (CA) High School where he lettered three years in baseball and two years in football. He attended St. Mary’s (CA) College and was later signed by the Marlins as a non-drafted free agent. He currently resides in Gilbert, AZ.

Mike McCormack Hitting Coordinator

Mike McCormack serves as the club’s Hitting Coordinator. He was the Giants hitting coach for the Arizona Giants Black team in 2022 and spent 2021 as the Arizona Giants Orange hitting coach. McCormack spent the previous 10 years as an Assistant Coach for Brown University. He also worked as the team’s recruiting coordinator, being elevated to that position in 2014. Prior to Brown, he spent the previous four years as an Assistant Coach under Jedd Soto at St. Mary’s College of California. After spending his freshman year at the University of Rochester, McCormack transferred to Worcester State University and was a three-year letter winner in the outfield. He was a team captain of the 2008 MASCAC Championship squad and NCAA New England Regional team and was named the University’s Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year during that same season. In 2010, McCormack was elected to Worcester State’s All-Decade team. He graduated Cum Laude in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. A native of Newburyport, Mass., he resides in Phoenix, Ariz., with his wife, Kelly, and their daughter, Carwyn.

Jacob Cruz Assistant, Hitting Coordinator

Jacob Cruz currently works as the Giants’ Hitting Coordinator after a two-year stint on the Milwaukee Brewers coaching staff as Assistant Hitting Coach. Cruz is familiar with the Giants organization, as he was selected by San Francisco in the first round (32nd overall) in the 1994 Draft out of Arizona State University. He broke into the Majors with the Giants in 1996 and spent parts of three seasons with the club before being traded to Cleveland. A former outfielder and first baseman, Cruz also played for the Rockies, Tigers and Reds over his nine-year career in the Majors, compiling a .241/.331/.377 batting line with 19 home runs in 842 plate appearances. Cruz transitioned to coaching in 2010 and worked in the D-backs and Cubs organizations before joining the Pirates’ Major League staff as an Assistant Hitting Coach in 2019. He spent one season in Pittsburgh before taking on the same role with the Brewers the last two years.

Hector Borg Coordinator, Latin American Development

Hector Borg currently works as the Coordinator of Latin American Development after serving as a Fundamentals Coach for the DSL Giants in 2019. He was also the Manager of Salem-Keizer in 2018. He spent 2017 as the Manager of the AZL Giants after spending the previous four seasons as a Coach for Class-A Augusta and spent the 2012 season as an Infield Instructor with Salem-Keizer. He previously coached for four years with the Dominican Summer League Giants. After signing as a non-drafted free agent with San Francisco in 2004, he played four seasons in the minor league system (through 2007). Borg resides in La Romana, DR.

Lance Burkhart Coordinator - Catching

Lance Burkhart currently serves as the Giants’ Catching Coordinator. In 2022, Burkhart managed the Arizona Giants. Burkhart spent the previous six seasons (2015-2020) in the Padres Organization. From 2018-2020, he served as a Fielding Coach for Triple-A El Paso. While with the El Paso Chihuahuas he coached alongside his older brother, Morgan. In 2017 he coached the San Antonio Missions. He was named Manager of Class-A Lake Elsinore in 2016 after serving as the hitting coach for Class A Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2015. From 2010-2014 he served as a coach in the independent Atlantic League, first as a Hitting coach for three season then as the Manager in 2014 for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Burkhart was originally a 15th-round selection by Montreal in 1997. He spent eight seasons in affiliated baseball from 1997-2004 with Montreal, Milwaukee, Texas and Baltimore, playing primarily catcher, and finished his playing career in the Atlantic League (2005-2009). He currently resides in St. Louis.

Ryan Vogelsong Roving Pitching Instructor

Ryan Vogelsong serves as the Giants’ Roving Pitching Instructor. The 2011 All-Star appeared in 289 Major League games (179 starts) over 13 seasons between San Francisco (2000-01, 2011-15) and Pittsburgh (2001, 2003-06, 2016). The 2011 Willie Mac Award Winner won two World Series rings with the Giants (2012, 2014). From 2007-09 he played in the Japanese League, playing for the Orix Buffaloes in 2009 and the Hanshin Tigers from 2007-08. Vogelsong attended Kutztown University, where he was named an All-American in 1998 and was inducted into Kutztown University Athletics Hall of Fame October 21, 2005. Ryan and his wife, Nicole, have one son, Ryder.

Dave Righetti Special Assistant, Player Development

Dave Righetti currently works as a Roving Minor League Pitching Instructor for the Giants. He joined the Major League staff in 2000 as the Pitching Coach, a role he held for 18 seasons. As a player, Righetti made stops with the Yankees (1979, 1981-90), Giants (1991-93), A’s (1994), Blue Jays (1994) and White Sox (1995). He began his career as a starter, then converted to a reliever in 1984. He won the American League Rookie of the Year award in 1981 after going 8-4 with a 2.06 ERA. He ended his career with 252 saves, which ranks 35th on Major League Baseball’s all-time saves list. Righetti was inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame on May 23, 2013. Righetti and his wife, Kandice, have three children (triplets, Nicolette, Natalee and Wesley).

Joe Panik Special Assistant, Player Development

Joe Panik serves as a Special Assistant in Player Development after an eight-year MLB career, the first six coming with San Francisco. The Yonkers, New York native was selected 29th overall by San Francisco in the 2011 MLB Draft out of St. John’s University. He debuted for the Giants in 2014, becoming the starting second baseman on the 2014 World Series Champion team. Panik would build off his rookie season with an All-Star campaign in 2015, where he hit .312 with a career-high .833 OPS, and a Gold Glove-winning 2016. After his career with San Francisco, Panik played for New York (NL), Toronto, and Miami. Overall, the infielder hit .264 with 340 runs, 42 home runs and 258 RBIs in 818 MLB games.

Lenn Sakata Special Assistant, Player Development

Lenn Sakata currently works as an Assistant in Player Development for the Giants. In 2021 he managed the San Jose Giants (Low-A affiliate) to a league title with a 76-44 record. Sakata’s first stint with SF came from 1999-2007 when he managed at San Jose (1999, 2001, 2004-07), Bakersfield (2000) and Fresno (2002), while his second stint occurred in 2014 when he managed San Jose. He led San Jose to three championships (2001, 2005 and 2007) and was named the Cal League’s Manager of the Year in 2005 as well as Baseball America’s High-A Manager of the Year in 2005 and 2006. His other stateside coaching stops include a three-year stint in the Rockies system from 2011-13 (managed Class A Modesto in 2012-13), a four-year run as a Triple-A hitting coach in the Angels system from 1991-94 and three years in the A’s system from 1988-1990. In 1988, he managed the A’s Northwest League club, Southern Oregon, and was tabbed the NWL’s Manager of the Year. From 1995-1998 he was a minor league manager and Major League coach for Chiba Lotte in Japan and a minor league manager again with Chiba from 2008-09. He played 13 professional seasons, mostly as an infielder, from 1975-87 including 11 seasons in the Majors with Milwaukee (1977-79), Baltimore (1980-85), Oakland (1986) and the Yankees (1987). When he made his debut in 1977, he was the second-ever Asian American player to play in the Major Leagues. He later went on to win a World Series with Baltimore in 1983.

Dustin Luepker Director, Minor League Medical

Dustin Luepker returned to the Giants organization in 2020 as the club’s Minor League Medical Director after spending the previous four seasons as the Head Athletic Trainer on the Miami Marlins Major League staff. All told, Luepker worked in the Marlins system for 11 years beginning in 2009 with Double-A Jacksonville as the Trainer, a post he held through 2011. From 2012-April 2016, Luepker was the Assistant Athletic Trainer on the MLB staff before being promoted to Head Athletic Trainer in April 2016. In his first tour in the Giants organization, Luepker worked at Class A Augusta and Double-A Connecticut for a combined three seasons from 2006-2008. Prior to joining SF, he worked with the Gary Railcats, then of the Independent Northern League. A native of Houston, TX, he graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology and a Master’s in Exercise Science. He is a certified athletic trainer, certified strength and conditioning specialist and a corrective exercise specialist. He and his wife, Annie, have one daughter, Camden, and one son, Cole, and reside in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Ryo Watanabe Coordinator, Minor League Medical

Ryo Watanabe serves as the club’s Coordinator of Minor League Medical. From 2017-2019, Watanabe was the Athletic Trainer with Class-A Advanced San Jose. He graduated from San Jose State University in 2010 with a B.S. in Kinesiology. Watanabe is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA). He resides in Tochigi, Japan during the offseason.

Andy King Coordinator, Minor League Strength & Conditioning

Andy King currently works as the Giants’ Coordinator, Minor League Strength & Conditioning. Prior to this role, he spent the previous three years with Triple-A Sacramento. He also had stops with Richmond, San Jose and with short-season Salem-Keizer. He previously spent a year and a half as the Athletic Performance Graduate Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where he worked with all 19 NCAA teams. King has his B.A. in Exercise & Sports Science with a concentration in Physical Therapy from Hamline University and a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Central Missouri. He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Registered Strength & Conditioning Coach with Distinction (RSCC*D) through the NSCA. He currently resides in Phoenix with his wife, Daniella, and their twins, son Morgan and daughter Raegan.

Mitch Kirchoff Rehab Strength & Conditioning Coach

Mitch Kirchoff begins works as the Giants Rehab Strength & Conditioning Coach. His past strength and conditioning roles have included working with Sporting Kansas City and the Pittsburgh Penguins, as well as in the collegiate setting at both the University of Louisville and University of Minnesota. He earned his bachelor's degree from St. Olaf College in Minnesota and his Masters in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Minnesota. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA.

Gabriel Garcia= Latin American Medical Director

Gabriel Garcia started with the Giants in 2023. Gabriel is responsible for the daily coordination of the medical department at the Felipe Alou Baseball Academy in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic. He attended California State University at Chico where he received his B.S. in Exercise Physiology, and Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania where he obtained his M.S. in Clinical Athletic Training. He previously worked with Cleveland and Detroit as a Minor League Athletic Trainer prior to joining the Giants. Gabriel currently resides in San Diego with his wife Valeri, dog Blue, and cat Pliny.

Jordan Light Latin American Medical Coordinator

Jordan Light serves as the Giants’ Latin America Medical Coordinator. Prior to joining the Giants, Light garnered five seasons as minor league assistant athletic trainer for the San Diego Padres from 2017-2021. In his academic career, he completed an orthopedic residency at Boston University, with a focus on shoulder and elbow diagnostics and interventions. He received his MS in Athletic Training from the University of Kentucky and BS in Athletic Training from Washington State University. The Battle Ground, WA native now resides in Houston, TX.

Nick Fajardo International Strength & Conditioning Coordinator

Nick Fajardo currently serves as the Giants’ International Strength and Conditioning Coordinator. Prior to this role, Nick served as the High-A Strength and Conditioning Coach for two years in Eugene and the ACL Strength and Conditioning Coach for two years. Prior to joining the Giants, he worked as a Human Performance Coach at Southern Methodist University and as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at The University of North Texas. Fajardo has his B.A. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Miami and Master’s Degree in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Miami. During his time at UM he was a graduate assistant, primarily working with the Men’s and Women’s basketball teams. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA. Born in Dallas, TX, Fajardo currently resides in Scottsdale with his wife, Emily, and their daughter, Olivia.

Kyle Belski Physical Therapist

Kyle Belski serves as a Minor League Physical Therapist for the Giants organization. Prior to his time with the Giants, he was a Sports PT Resident, Residency Faculty Member, and Physical Therapist with Houston Methodist. Belski is a board-certified Sports Physical Therapist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy. He earned a B.S. in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX. While at Southwestern, he received All-Conference honors in 2009 and 2010 as a 1st baseman for the baseball team. He also earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Health Science Center. He currently resides in Scottsdale, AZ.

Tom Battaglia Physical Therapist

Tom Battaglia works as a Minor League Physical Therapist with the Giants Organization. Prior to his time with the Giants, he worked for a year in a fast-paced outpatient orthopedic clinic after finishing PT school. He then completed a year of Sports Residency training in Minneapolis, MN where he had the opportunity to work with high school and collegiate athletes. Tom earned his B.S. and B.A.S in Biology and Exercise/Sport Science from the University of Minnesota – Duluth. He then completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Minnesota. Currently, he resides in Scottsdale, AZ with his wife Laken.

Nick Mathews Physical Therapist

Nick Mathews serves as a Minor League Physical Therapist with the Giants Organization. Prior to his time with the Giants, he was a Sports PT Resident with Houston Methodist where he had the opportunity to work with collegiate and professional athletes. Mathews is a board-certified Sports Physical Therapist recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association. He earned a B.S. in Exercise and Sports Science from Piedmont College and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Indiana University. He currently resides in Scottsdale, AZ with his wife Julianna.

Dr. Emily Payette Coordinator, Mental Health

Dr. Emily Payette works as the Minor League Mental Health Coordinator. Payette is a licensed clinical psychologist and is responsible for mental health needs of players and staff, including performance enhancement of players by improving their emotional & psychological well-being. In her role, Dr. Payette travels to each of the minor league affiliates several times throughout the season. Dr. Payette earned her Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Fullerton and her Master’s and Doctorate degrees at Alliant International University. She has specializations in working with eating disorders, trauma and sports performance. Dr. Payette is from Orange County, CA but now resides in Scottsdale with her dog, Willie, the minor league emotional support dog.

Drew Robinson Mental Health Advocate

Drew Robinson works under the baseball operations side of the San Francisco Giants organization assisting Dr. Shana Alexander and Dr. Emily Payette in the mental health & wellness department. He will be in charge of creating a Peer Support Program throughout the organization to help players & staff start their own conversations regarding their mental and emotional wellbeing. Born and raised in Las Vegas, NV, Robinson signed his first professional player contract with the Texas Rangers out of high school and went on to play parts of 12 seasons with Rangers, Cardinals and Giants while spending parts of three seasons in the Major Leagues with the Rangers and Cardinals. In February of 2020, he and ESPN released an E60 documentary on his survived suicide attempt in hopes to end the stigma surrounding mental health. He hopes his story will help people share his passion to be vulnerable with different self-care techniques to avoid getting to a headspace that he experienced that lead to his attempt.

Francisco Rodriguez Coordinator, Mental Skills

Francisco Rodriguez serves as the Minor Leagues Mental Skills Coordinator for the Giants. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Stetson University (FL) in International Business in 2002 and from Arizona State University in Psychology in 2017 before he earned his Master’s from Barry University in Sport Psychology in 2019. Rodriguez’ first season in professional baseball was in 2019 with the Toronto Blue Jays as an Assistant Mental Skills Coach. Rodriguez was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and currently lives in Scottsdale, AZ.

Grant Baker Executive Chef, Player Development

Grant Baker currently works as the Minor League Executive Player Performance Chef at the Papago Training Complex in Phoenix Arizona. Prior to joining the Giants, he worked as the Executive Chef for hotels and restaurants across the country, specializing in procurement, training and operation openings for new builds. He is a Johnson & Wales University (Charlotte, NC) graduate where he earned his A.S. in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management with a focus study on nutrition and food allergies. Originally from Pittsburgh PA, he currently resides in Scottsdale AZ with his wife, Stephanie, and son, Franco.

Richard Avila Executive Sous Chef

Richard Avila serves as the Executive Sous Chef of Player Performance at Papago Park facility located in Phoenix, AZ. Before his tenure with the San Francisco Giants Organization, his 17-year career has been in the resort hotel industry with the Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton and Great Wolf Lodge. Working with signature specialty brands such as the Ritz Carlton (Avon, CO.) and Royal Palms (Phoenix, AZ.) Avila is a Desert Storm Era Veteran with service in the United States Navy (1989-1993) and is a graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Program with a degree in the Sciences of Culinary Arts from Scottsdale Culinary Institute. He’s originally from Texas with family located in the Albuquerque area and El Paso. He lives in Mesa, AZ with wife Maria.

Morgan Cannon Minor League Performance Dietitian

Morgan Cannon works for the San Francisco Giants as a Minor League Performance Dietitian. He completed his Master’s Degree in Nutrition & Integrative Physiology with an Emphasis in Sports Nutrition from the University of Utah. Cannon has previously worked with the Utah Jazz Basketball team and Real Salt Lake Soccer Club. He and his wife, also named Morgan, have a daughter, Madison, and son, Harvey (Buster).

Rose Schubach Minor League Performance Dietitian

Rose Schubach serves as a Minor League Performance Dietitian based out of Arizona. She first worked with the Giants as a performance nutrition intern in 2022. Before coming back full-time, she completed a performance nutrition internship with the Ultimate Fighting Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rose is currently pursuing her Master's in Sports Nutrition from Arizona State University, where she received her Bachelor's degree.

Jen Bath Instructor, Education & Culture

Jen Bath works for the Giants as an English Instructor in the Education Department. She is responsible for teaching English lessons and aiding in each player’s process to develop culturally and become prepared for playing professional baseball. Bath has a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, as well as a Master’s Degree in Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education. She is currently working to complete her second Master’s Degree from Northern Arizona University in Administration and Leadership. Previously, she was a high school Spanish teacher and coach for 10 years. She currently resides in Phoenix, AZ.

Ryan Stiles Coordinator, Minor League Clubhouse & Equipment

Ryan Stiles started with the Giants organization in 2022 after spending the previous 23 seasons with the Seattle Mariners. Stiles worked nine years as the Mariners Major League Clubhouse Manager, responsible for purchasing and maintaining all club baseball equipment while attending to the day-to-day needs of Mariners players, coaches and staff. He spent the previous 10 seasons as the team’s Minor League Equipment Manager and also spent three years working in the Mariners finance department. A Longview, WA native, Stiles graduated from RA Long High School in 1992 and from Central Washington University in 1997. He resides in Phoenix, Ariz., and has two children, Luke and Jack.

PAPAGO PARK OPERATIONS

Jeff Winsor Senior Manager, Minor League Field Operations

Jeff Winsor currently serves as Sr. Manager of Minor League Field Operations. Winsor is responsible for managing the budget and operations for the field operations department at the Papago training facility. Winsor is also responsible for evaluating and consulting with our minor league affiliates regarding field maintenance best practices, coordinating field renovation projects, and serves as the department liaison for the City of Scottsdale. The New Hampshire native is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and resides in Phoenix with his wife, Caitlin.

Nick Wolcott Manager, Minor League Facilities

Nick Wolcott began his career in professional baseball in 2012 and has been with the Giants since 2020. He is responsible for the managing the budget and maintenance of the buildings on property at Papago Park. The Michigan native is a graduate of Michigan State University and resides in Gilbert with his wife, Megan..

Brad Guzman Manager, Minor League Field Operations

Brad Guzman is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the playing surfaces at the Papago training facility. The Northwest native is a graduate of the Western Washington University and holds a Turf Management degree from University of California Riverside. Guzman resides in Gilbert, AZ with his wife, Jocelyn, and sons, Parker and Tate.

Matt Leis Manager, Fleet & Irrigation Operations

Matt Leis serves as the Giants’ Manager of Fleet & Irrigation. Leis is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s turf equipment fleet and irrigation hardware systems at the Papago training facility. Prior to his role with the Giants, Leis worked for Troon Golf as the Head Equipment Manager of the Agronomy Department at The Westin Kierland Golf Club. The Chippewa Falls, WI native is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and resides in Phoenix, AZ with his wife Margie along with their two dogs Rosie and Dot.

Patrick Restemayer Horticulturist

Patrick Restemayer currently works as the Giants’ Horticulturist. He is responsible for the maintenance of the complex related to the playing surfaces. This includes daily set up and repair of all training surfaces along with game preparation. Prior to his role with the Giants, Restemayer has a background in golf course maintenance. Restemayer is a graduate of North Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in Horticulture focused in Turf Management. Restemayer played four years of hockey for the NDSU Bison’s. The Park Rapids, MN native now resides in Mesa, AZ.

Jason Cluff Field Coordinator

Jayson Cluff currently serves as the Coordinator of Minor League Field Operations, where he works to get the fields ready for spring training and makes sure Giants players have the best playing surfaces possible. Cluff is an Arizona native and currently resides in Mesa with his wife, Kaitlin, and daughter, Casey.

Taurino Santiago Field Coordinator

Taurino Santiago currently serves as a Field Coordinator. In his current role, Santiago supervises the daily set up and maintenance work for the playing surfaces at Papago. Santiago has a background in golf course maintenance and three years prior experience in the Cactus League. Santiago is a native of Oaxaca, Mexico and lives in Phoenix, AZ with his wife, Jessica and their three daughters Elizabeth, Adrianna, Annabel, and their son Taurino.

Owen Breithaupt Sports Turf Tech II

Owen Breithaupt works as a Sports Turf Technician II at Papago. Breithaupt is responsible for the maintenance of the complex related to the playing surfaces. This includes daily set up and repair of all training surfaces along with game preparation. Prior to his role with the Giants, he spent time in the hospitality industry. Breithaupt is a graduate of Southwestern College in Wichita, KS where he earned his MBA. Breithaupt also played three years of baseball as an outfielder for Southwestern serving as captain in his senior season. The Tacoma, WA native now resides in Phoenix, AZ.

Marqus O’Bryant Sports Turf Tech II

Marqus O’Bryant works as a Sports Turf Technician II at Papago. O’Bryant is responsible for the maintenance of the complex related to the playing surfaces. Prior to his time with the Giants, O’Bryant spent time as a restoration technician specializing in residential properties. O’Bryant is a graduate of Lourdes University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a minor in Marketing. O’Bryant also played four years of Lacrosse for the Grey Wolf’s and serving as captain his junior and senior year. The Shaker Heights, OH native now resides in Phoenix, AZ with his girlfriend, Megan.

Trenton Schroeder Sports Turf Tech II

Trent Schroeder works as a Sports Turf Technician II at Papago. Schroeder is responsible for the maintenance of the complex related to the playing surfaces. This includes daily set up and repair of all training surfaces along with game preparation. Prior to his role with the Giants Schroeder has worked in the golf course maintenance industry for 6 seasons. The Phoenix, AZ native is currently pursuing his degree in Advanced Turfgrass Management through Penn State University.

Tyler Stokes Sports Turf Tech II

Tyler Stokes works as a Sports Turf Technician II at Papago. Stokes is responsible for the maintenance of the complex related to the playing surfaces. This includes daily set up and repair of all training surfaces along with game preparation. Stokes attended Paradise Valley Community College and St Gregory’s University in Oklahoma, playing three years of college baseball as a left-handed pitcher. Stokes is a native of Phoenix, AZ.

Francis Mieses Manager, Dominican Republic Academy Operations

Francis Mieses started with the Giants in 2016. Mieses is responsible for the efficient management of daily academy operations, ensuring the short- and long-term maintenance of facilities, and providing comprehensive support across all operational functions and departments to optimize workforce contributions and efficiencies. Mieses holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a specialization in Human Resources from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in Santo Domingo, complemented by a Master of Business Administration degree obtained in 2019. He currently resides in Santo Domingo with his wife, Maria.

Chantal Tejada Lead Teacher Dominican Republic

Chantal Tejada is responsible for teaching English lessons and helping players to be prepared for playing professional baseball. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo as well as a Master’s degree in Coaching and Human Resources from Camilo José Cela’s University in Madrid. She resides in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Tania Romero Instructor – Learning & Life Skills

Tania Romero is responsible for teaching English lessons, Life Skills and helping players develop to be prepared for playing professional baseball. She has a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Universidad Iberoamericana in Santo Domingo as well as graduate studies in cognitive processes and psychometry. She resides in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Denisse Cruz Instruction Specialist, Player Development - Education

Denisse Cruz started with the Giants in 2024 as an Instruction Specialist, overseeing high school programs, developing educational resources, and teaching English for Latin American minor league players in the Dominican Republic and affiliates in the United States. She is an Advertising graduate from Universidad Iberoamericana in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and an MSc. in Educational Technology from the University of Kansas.
