Matt Strahm surprises local Challenger baseball team with personalized gloves
When 25 athletes and coaches from Newtown Edgmont’s Challenger Team, the Newtown Angels, entered Citizens Bank Park yesterday, all they expected was a personal tour of the ballpark from Phillies broadcaster Tom McCarthy.
However, once they reached the team’s Media Room, they were greeted with the surprise of a lifetime. Phillies pitcher Matt Strahm and his wife Megan, who live in the Newtown Edgmont community, are big supporters of the Challenger Angels. The Strahms surprised the group at the door and, with the support of Victus Sports, gifted each athlete a personalized baseball glove - complete with their names stitched on the side.
The team was also invited to watch batting practice on the field, where they got to watch some of their favorite players hit – and even got a few autographs in the process.
Check out the highlights from this very special day.
