Phillies acquire Daniel Robert from Texas

The Phillies have acquired right-handed pitcher Daniel Robert from the Texas Rangers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Enrique Segura. Robert was optioned to triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski made the announcement.

Robert, 30, posted a 1.54 ERA (2 ER, 11.2 IP) with two saves and 17 strikeouts across 10 appearances with triple-A Round Rock this season before being designated for assignment on April 28. Robert signed with Texas as a non-drafted free agent on May 10, 2018, and has gone 11-10 with 17 saves, a 3.40 ERA (74 ER, 195.2 IP) and 260 strikeouts to 80 walks in 146 career minor league games (2 starts). Over the last five minor league seasons (since 2021) he has averaged 11.86 SO/9.0 IP (210 SO, 159.1 IP) with a 31.1 percent strikeout rate (675 BF). The Hoover, Ala., native made his major league debut in 2024 and went 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA (2 ER, 5.2 IP) in four games with the Rangers.

The 20-year-old Segura was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent on Jan. 15, 2022. He went 1-2 with a 3.18 ERA (6 ER, 17.0 IP) and 19 strikeouts in four games (3 starts) for single-A Clearwater this season, and overall, appeared in 44 career games (36 starts) across two levels (3 teams) of the Phillies minor league system.
