Mike Trout and Yoán Moncada, Angels
Trout will be placed on the injured list with a bone bruise in his left knee, Angels manager Ron Washington said after the team's May 1 game against the Tigers. Washington said the injury is not significant.
Moncada (right thumb soreness) has been able to swing from the right side and field grounders, and he took batting practice on May 1.
Walker Buehler, Kristian Campbell, Connor Wong and Masataka Yoshida, Red Sox
On May 1, Red Sox manager Alex Cora revealed that Buehler was sent back to Boston to undergo testing after experiencing right shoulder soreness. Buehler's last start came on April 26.
Campbell was scratched roughly an hour before the May 1 series finale in Toronto with right rib discomfort he felt while stretching.
Wong (left pinkie fracture) had some soreness after his second rehab game for Triple-A Worcester on April 29 but was back in the lineup on May 1. He could be activated for the May 2-4 series at home against the Twins.
Yoshida (right shoulder labrum tear) is still having trouble progressing with his throwing program and will visit with Boston's training staff when the team returns home on May 2.
Salvador Perez, Cole Ragans and Kyle Wright, Royals
Perez left the Royals' May 1 game against the Rays with left hip soreness.
Ragans (mild left groin strain) skipped his scheduled April 30 start against Rays, but is scheduled for a bullpen session on May 2 to help determine when he could start next.
Wright (right shoulder surgery/hamstring strain) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Northwest Arkansas on May 2.
Lance McCullers Jr., Astros
McCullers (right flexor tendon surgery) is slated to start on May 4 against the White Sox. It will be his first appearance in an MLB game since Game 3 of the 2022 World Series.
Ranger Suárez and Brandon Marsh, Phillies
Suárez (lower back stiffness) will be activated to make his season debut on May 4 against the D-backs.
Marsh (right hamstring strain) homered with three RBIs in a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on May 1 and will be evaluated after another rehab game on May 2.
Jackson Merrill and Jake Cronenworth, Padres
Merrill (right hamstring strain) is nearing the end of his rehab process, per manager Mike Shildt. The Padres have yet to determine whether Merrill will require a rehab assignment.
Cronenworth (non-displaced right rib fracture) has been cleared to resume all baseball activities as of May 1.
Tommy Edman, Blake Treinen, Michael Kopech, Tyler Glasnow and Clayton Kershaw, Dodgers
Edman tweaked his right ankle on April 29 and did not play the day after. Manager Dave Roberts expects Edman back in the lineup on May 2 or May 3 against the Braves.
Treinen (low-grade right forearm sprain) has not resumed playing catch and is only resting and rehabbing as of May 1.
Kopech (right shoulder impingement) continues to ramp up in his bullpen progression and could potentially begin facing hitters late in the week of April 28.
Glasnow was placed on the 15-day IL on April 28 with right shoulder inflammation. He has been shut down from throwing for 10-14 days and will be re-evaluated from there.
Kershaw (left toe and left knee surgeries) threw 66 pitches over five innings on April 30 with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Tyler Fitzgerald, Giants
Fitzgerald was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a left rib fracture.
Ezequiel Tovar, Ryan Feltner, Kris Bryant and Thairo Estrada, Rockies
Tovar (left hip contusion) is making minimal progress according to manager Bud Black and is running, hitting and playing catch, although he is experiencing some discomfort running as of May 1.
Feltner is likely to miss his scheduled start May 3 due to back spasms. He played catch May 1 and is still feeling discomfort in his back.
Bryant (lumbar degenerative disc disease) is continuing to get through a series of tests after meeting with a back specialist earlier in the week of April 28. Manager Bud Black made it clear there is no talk of shutting Bryant down for the season.
Estrada (fractured right wrist) had his first throwing session on April 30 and could progress to hitting off a tee during the week of May 5.
Shane Bieber, Trevor Stephan, David Fry, Slade Cecconi and Paul Sewald, Guardians
Bieber (recovery from Tommy John surgery) and Stephan (right UCL reconstruction) are slated to throw in live batting practice sessions on May 2 at the Guardians’ complex in Arizona, pitching coach Carl Willis said.
Fry (right UCL revision surgery) is expected to begin a game progression in early May.
Cecconi (left oblique strain) threw 3 1/3 innings in his first rehab appearance with Triple-A Columbus on April 30.
Sewald (right shoulder inflammation) has a shoulder strain and is expected to miss some time, per manager Stephen Vogt.
Erik Swanson and Max Scherzer, Blue Jays
Swanson (median nerve entrapment) was scheduled to pitch for the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays on April 29 but felt some right forearm soreness while throwing. An MRI showed no structural damage, so Swanson will get another opinion as he and the Blue Jays try to diagnose this issue. He will continue to play catch.
Scherzer (right thumb inflammation) threw off a mound again April 29 in Toronto, ramping up his pitch count slightly from last week's 27-pitch session.
Jazz Chisholm Jr., Yankees
Chisholm exited the April 29 game against the Orioles after appearing to injure himself on a swing prior to a first-inning double. Chisholm was diagnosed with "right flank discomfort," the Yankees said.
A.J. Minter, Danny Young, Brooks Raley and Paul Blackburn, Mets
Mets officials are in the process of reviewing multiple medical opinions on Minter's left lat muscle, which he injured on April 26 against the Nationals. Among the potential options is surgery, which would cost Minter the rest of the season.
Young was placed on the injured list on April 30 with a left elbow sprain and could require Tommy John surgery.
Raley (recovery from Tommy John surgery) re-signed with the Mets on April 29 and immediately went on the IL. He has been throwing regular bullpen sessions and is slated to face live hitters at some point in May.
Blackburn (right knee inflammation) threw a bullpen session at Citi Field on April 29.
Justin Martinez, D-backs
Martinez was placed on the 15-day IL on May 1 with right shoulder inflammation after experiencing diminished velocity over his last few outings.
Jared Jones, Pirates
Jones (right UCL sprain) is playing light catch out to 60 feet after completing his six-week window of not throwing. The current estimate is that he will be able to throw off a slope in mid-to-late May.
Javier Assad, Cubs
Assad sustained a Grade 2 oblique strain on an April 22 rehab start with Triple-A Iowa. He was transferred from the 15- to 60-day IL on April 30.
Shane McClanahan and Josh Lowe, Rays
McClanahan (left triceps nerve irritation) has begun throwing-like activities -- throwing without a baseball -- as of April 29.
Lowe (grade 2 right oblique strain) took batting practice on April 26 and 29 with the intent of progressing to live BP on May 2 and potentially beginning a rehab assignment on May 3.
Trevor Rogers, Andrew Kittredge and Tyler Wells, Orioles
Rogers (right knee subluxation) made the second start of his rehab assignment April 29 for Triple-A Norfolk, allowing four runs over 1 2/3 innings during a 55-pitch outing.
Kittredge (left knee debridement) had a live BP session on April 30 that went well. His next step will be starting a Minor League rehab assignment, per manager Brandon Hyde.
Wells (right UCL repair surgery) first threw off a mound on April 27 and then had a side session on April 30 at Camden Yards.
George Kirby and Luke Raley, Mariners
Kirby (right shoulder inflammation) threw his first live batting practice since the injury on April 28 and said that he "felt great." His next steps could be a Minor League rehab assignment, which could come as soon as May 4.
Raley was placed on the injured list on April 30 with a right oblique strain and is expected to need at least six weeks to recover before the Mariners could consider a potential rehab assignment.
Iván Herrera, Cardinals
Herrera (left knee bone bruise) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on May 1.
AJ Smith-Shawver, Braves
Smith-Shawver left his April 29 start against the Rockies in the sixth inning after being hit in the right arm by a 105.3 mph line drive off the bat of Ryan McMahon.
Brandon Woodruff and Aaron Ashby, Brewers
Woodruff (right shoulder surgery) threw 74 pitches (5 2/3 innings) with High-A Wisconsin on April 30 and could make his next start in the Majors.
Ashby (right oblique strain) threw two live innings at the Brewers' Spring Training complex on April 29.
Jeimer Candelario and Tyler Stephenson, Reds
Candelario (lumbar spine strain) was placed on the 10-day injured list on April 30.
Stephenson (left oblique strain) is currently on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville. The Reds expected to make a decision on his return after Louisville's May 1 doubleheader.
Cade Cavalli, Nationals
Cavalli (Tommy John surgery) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester on April 29.
Beau Brieske and Manuel Margot, Tigers
Brieske (right ankle inflammation) tossed a perfect inning with two strikeouts in a rehab outing on April 30 for High-A West Michigan. He could rejoin the Tigers on May 3, the first day he is eligible to return from the injured list.
Margot (left patellar tendon strain) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on April 29.
