Coordinator - Research & Development/Pitching Development
Brandon Nelson is in his sixth season with the Royals and first as the Assistant Director of Research & Development. In his new role, Brandon will help oversee the R&D Department while focusing on leading the Player Development and Major League Strategy initiatives. He joined the organization in 2020 as a Player Development Coach in Omaha and has since served as the Royals’ Coordinator of Research & Development/Pitching Development, as well as an analyst for Player Development.
Brandon graduated from Willamette University in 2019 with a degree in computer science and minors in mathematics and economics. During his time at Willamette, Brandon was a pitcher for the baseball team and a Sports Information Assistant for the athletic department. A native of Murrieta, Calif., he now resides in Overland Park, Kan., with his wife, Reanna.
