Vice President - Community Impact
Luis Maes is in his third season as the Vice President of Community Impact. In this role, he oversees Community Relations, The Kansas City Royals Foundation, the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy and Royals Hall of Fame & Ballpark Experiences, which all use the power of sport and baseball to unleash human potential and move our community forward.
Prior to joining the Royals, Maes served as the Head of Global Social Impact at Electronic Arts (EA). Prior to EA, Luis created and led a first-of-its-kind team at Nike that leveraged $3 billion of corporate assets to bring community impact; diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI); and environmental sustainability to life in the communities where Nike employees and athletes live, work and play. He also led strategic planning for Nike’s global social impact strategy—which has been recognized as an industry-leading approach and resulted in game-changing impact for communities all over the world. Before joining Nike, Luis led social and community impact efforts at Walmart and in the government and nonprofit sectors.
Luis holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and master’s degrees from Harvard University and Duke University.
