Turkey Giveaway - Each year, the Amazin' Mets Foundation sponsors a Turkey Giveaway and distributes turkeys to families in need across all five boroughs. Since its inception, the Foundation has purchased 19,000 turkeys through a grant to St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters.
In 2024, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation distributed over 8,500 turkeys ahead of Thanksgiving as part of their 10th annual MetsGiving Turkey Giveaway. New York Mets Hall of Famer John Franco joined Mr. and Mrs. Met to help distribute the turkeys at the various community partner locations. Individuals receiving the turkeys were also given a voucher for tickets to select Mets home games in 2025 and a MetsGiving tote bag. The Foundation partnered with a network of 20 community partners across New York City for the giveaway.
Toyota generously provided transportation to enable Front Office staff volunteers to assist with in-person distributions across all five boroughs, featuring locations such as Queens Community Justice Center, New York Common Pantry in Manhattan, Part of the Solution in the Bronx, Project Hospitality in Staten Island, and Maimonides Park in Brooklyn.
Amazin’ Mets Foundation Holiday Dinner - The Amazin’ Mets Foundation, in partnership with Delta Air Lines, continued their commitment to spreading holiday cheer by hosting the 2nd annual Amazin’ Mets Foundation Holiday Dinner at Sunnyside Community Services in Queens. This event ensures that families in need can celebrate the holiday season with joy and togetherness. Francis Mendoza, wife of Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, joined Mr. and Mrs. Met and Delta volunteers to serve meals to over 200 individuals. Children at the event received special gifts from Santa and art kits and supplies generously donated by KINGART.
Kids Holiday Party - Each year, the Mets host the Kids Holiday Party at Citi Field with students from local Title 1 schools in Queens to celebrate the holiday season. Children enjoy a holiday lunch, play games with Mr. & Mrs. Met and receive gifts from Santa and his elves. In 2024, Mets alum Todd Zeile took on the role of Santa Claus and was joined by two elves, pitcher Reed Garrett and his wife, Mary, who distributed gifts to each child. In addition to receiving presents, each child also left with a brand-new winter coat; courtesy of Operation Warm. This donation was made possible through a grant from the Foundation, supporting Operation Warm's mission to provide warmth, confidence, and hope by connecting under-resourced kids to basic need programs and community resources.
