BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox have appointed right-handed pitcher Cooper Criswell as the club’s 27th man for today’s doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. Per Major League Baseball rules, both teams are permitted to add an extra player for today’s games.
Criswell, 28, has appeared in three games this season for Boston, allowing eight runs (five earned) in 4.1 innings. The right-hander has also posted a 0.82 ERA (1 ER/11.0 IP) with a 0.91 WHIP and 16 strikeouts in three games (two starts) for Triple-A Worcester. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 13th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Georgia native owns a 4.78 ERA (75 ER/141.1 IP) in 41 career Major League games (20 starts) with the Angels (2021), Tampa Bay Rays (2022-23), and Red Sox (2024-25).
